Bloomsday

On his day, June 16, we follow the adventures of Leopold Bloom all over the city of Pittsburgh. We start with breakfast in Bloomfield as Bloom prepares his breakfast of kidneys, well done. Then we move on to Homewood cemetery as the chapter Hades is read, and Bloom goes to the funeral of his friend Paddy Dignam.
The picture shows Louise enjoying a gorgonzola sandwich in Murphy's Pub in Edgewood as Lestrygonians is read to the crowd. The story continues at the Carnegie Library in Oakland, and then to the point of Washington's landing, sitting on pointy rocks and listening to Wandering Rocks
The day ends at a pub in the strip district, where the final readings are presented, Cyclops, Oxen of the Sun, and Penelope.

If you haven't guessed it, we are recreating James Joyce's great "Ulysses" in a way that embraces our city, as Joyce's book embraces Dublin. And when read by native Irish readers, the effect is magical.
